Achievements of The College during 2007-2008
The college has commenced M.Sc. Part II courses in Chemistry,Zoology and Botany.

M.A. Part I Sociology has been introduced from Aug 2008.

The college has applied to the University for its recognition to Zoology Research Laboratoty.

The results of T.Y.B.A was 93.54%, B.Sc. was 91.75%, B.Sc.IT was 88.23% and M.A. Part II Urdu 100% , Islamic studies 100%, English Literature 90%.

In all 202 Students got graduated in June /July 2007 and 27 students acquired post graduation degree.71 students secured Ist class in UG courses out of which 06 students secured distinction and 05 studens secured I class in M.A. courses.

Two of our ex-students after the Post Graduation in Physics from University of Mumbai have been selected on their academic merit for pursuing Research (Ph.D) in Physics at BARC.

Two Research Projects,one in Physics and one Chemistry have been approved by the University of Mumbai and got sanctioned with the research grant.

Dr.Nazneen Rangoonwala, Head Dept. of English bwas appointed as an expert to conduct viva voce examinatios for the M.Phil (English Literature)students of Alagappa University.

Prof.Sameena Shaikh completed Orientation Programme and got ‘A’ grade. Dr.Naheed Azam completed Refresher Course in Chemistry during the academic year 2007-08.

Dr.Tabassum Sheikh presented a paper at an International Conference held at Tehran,Iran.She has also worked as a resource person for the revised Philosophy syllabus.

Prof. Jayashree Thakre received the “The Best Teacher Award” From K.M.E.Society.

Prof.Fatima Baig won the Ist Prize in the Teachers’ Elocution Contest held by the K.M.E. Society.

Prof.Anis Choudhary worked as NSS Taluka Co-ordinator of the University.

Prof. Jayashree Thakre worked as University Field Co-ordinator for 6 college and resources person for three projects of Extension Education.

Ms.Aliya Baig of S.Y.B.Sc was nominated on merit as a Member to the University Students’ Council of our esteemed University for the academic year 2007-08 by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.She has been elected as the Secretary of University Students’ Council and became the member of senate of Mumbai University for 2007-08.

This is the 5th consecutive year that our student is representing the University Students’ Council and second time as the Secretary of University Students’ Council.

Our students secured 10 grace marks by participating and winning in the Intercollegiate Sports Events for the second consecutive year in 2007-08.

Ms. Momin Farah of T.Y.B.Sc was selected to represent the University in the National Individual Yoga Competition.

Ms.Dhole Efa Wahid and Ms.Fakih Sarah Obaidullah of F.Y.B.Com. won the 2nd prize in the Intercollegiate Students’ Paper Presentation Contest held by Adarsh College,Badlapur.

Ms.Saummya Shetty (F.Y.B.Sc.IT)was selected by the NGO Akshara to attend the National Level Workshop on “Gender Issues” held at Bangalore.

Ms.Neha Khot of S.Y.B.Sc. won the 1st prize at the State Level Essay Writing Contest on “Terrorism”.

Ms.Rumaisa Khan (S.T.B.A) won the 1st Prize in the Intercollegiate Essay Writing Contest in Islamic Studies.

Ms.Farida Nasikkar of S.Y.B.Sc. won the 3rd prize in the Intercollegiate Elocution Competition Competition on “Effects of Globalisation in Education”.

Ms.Pallavi Landge (B.Sc.IT) bagged the “ The Best NSS Leader Award ” of Thane District from University of Mumbai.

The college NSS Unit received two prestigious State Awards and another two prestigious National Awards during this academic year 2007-08. “ The Best NSS Unit Award” to the Principal and “ The Best Programme Award ” to Prof.Anis Choudhary the NSS Programme Officer of our college.State Awards were given by Hon’ble Minister for Higher and Technical Education Shri.Dilip Valse Patil on 21st Jul 2007 and the National awards on 16th Jan 2008,by His Excellency Shri Surjit Singh Barnala ,Governor of Chennai.

The College Extension Education Unit also received “The Best Extension Education Award for Rural Area” from the hands of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr.Vijay Khole on 26th Jan 2008.The Extension Education unit of College worked as the “ NODAL CENTRE ” for the colleges of Thane District.

10 Students’ have won the Intercollegiate prizes during this academic year,in various events.Two skits also bagged the Intercollegiate prizes.

06 UG students’ and 04 M.Sc. students’ received scholarships from the University of Mumbai during 2007-08.

Prin.Kamala Balasubramanian is a member of the Senate of the University of Mumbai and also a member of Women Development bCell of University of Mumbai.She also worked as Convenor and member of Local Inquiry Committees constituted by the University of Mumbai.
