‘Quality, it is said, is never an accident; but the synergistic result of noble intention, sincere effort, skillful planning, intelligent direction, dedicated teamwork, sustained collaborative inputs and competent execution to the last syllable’ Quality in Higher Education has always remained a challenge due to the ever widening gap between academics and ground realities and this rift is at an all time high owing to rapid unprecedented and sometimes frightening advances in technology all around us. ‘Education with a human touch’ has been our goal in this institution of higher learning established with the aim of providing higher education to girls; something which we strive to fulfill, and results of which are amply apparent in the smiling happy faces, honesty and twinkle in the eyes of all our young learners. On behalf of the Konkan Muslim Education Society of Thane District, I heartily welcome you to our K.M.E. Society’s G.M. Momin Women’s College. “An institute which rests on its laurels surely, rusts on them”. Continued efforts towards progress and quality enhancement practices; raising the benchmark, satisfaction of stake holders and satisfied true happiness of students have always been our prime concern. With over sixty value added, skill development and income generating certificate courses, diplomas and scores of developmental activities lined up for learners every year; twenty seven national, state and regional level conferences, seminars and workshops conducted, and thousands of enthusiastic learners successfully deriving benefits from these courses and activities each year; along with equal eagerness and success in their curricular pursuits, the valued aims of higher education of training young minds, creating knowledge and wisdom, nurturing love and longing for higher values in life, preparing students for leadership in every sphere of life, committed to social, local and national uplifting, upholding and preserving the spirit of democracy and generating love for the needy, respect for women and keeping faith in humanity are more than fulfilled and flourish in this sacred institution of higher learning. Sharing of resources and efforts with sister institutions, the neighbourhood and the city of Bhiwandi in general, have also contributed to fulfillment of aims and objectives of higher education. Introduction of new courses and subjects and their patronage have kept the desire to learn, burning for conventional and applied courses alike. This college has provided the world with a competent workforce of women who offer their services in fields of education, medicine, science and technology, arts and many other professions with a sense of humanity, humility and justice. I fall short of words to describe and praise this revered institution of higher education and learning. Dedicated efforts, Memorandums of Understanding, many associative collaborations with reputed institutions and organizations, an ambient positive atmosphere, several unique and best-practices, exercises aimed at boosting levels of self confidence and morale, developmental activities; and the overall sense of security and belongingness in this institution have ensured holistic physical, mental and spiritual growth and wellbeing, cultivation of universal ideals, paradigms, moral principles and a spirit of national integration besides fulfilling our vision, mission and objectives. Considering their highly conservative upbringing and backgrounds, accomplishments of our students, especially under-graduates, in various competitions and research meets all over the country are definitely worthy of applause. A majority, if not all, of our students come from homes and financial backgrounds where ‘to dream’ is a luxury. I salute the parents who despite financial constraints, are willing to feel the pinch in order to educate their daughters; and our students, who despite several odds and challenges thrown by life, are ready to undertake the journey towards fulfillment of their dream of higher education. We encourage our students to ‘dream’, to visualize fulfillment of aspirations and their belief in oneself to fructify their dreams. Inducting a sense of awareness, alertness and understanding of hygiene and sanitation amongst our wards will not sound too far-fetched in the prevalent current scenario around us. It is said that “If a girl is educated, the entire family is educated” and I have no doubt that our young divas, themselves being cultured, educated, responsible citizens will nurture and sustain future generations of responsible citizens, fuelling national and global progress, bringing about the desired transformation and progressive evolution of mankind to higher levels of development and spirituality. I thank our management, ‘The Konkan Muslim Education Society of Thane District’ for their unconditional encouragement and support in all our endeavours, my staff, our generous donors, stake-holders, the University of Mumbai for affiliation and support in all activities, NAAC and BIS, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology for providing generous financial support through the Star College Scheme and God Almighty for showering incessant blessings upon this sacred institution and all associated with it. I envision unmatched potential for growth, success and uninterrupted flow of positive intellectual energy in all departments of this college, propelling this sacred institution of higher learning for women, to global levels of excellence and fame. God Bless.
