Our college was established with the motive of spreading awareness on higher education among women, especially from the minority muslim population, and the economically challenged sections of the society; and facilitating the same through effective action.

The college has grown from strength to strength over the years. From a modest beginning in 1989 with just 94 students, the college today has over 1650 women students enrolled in various Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate programmes in the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce.

The Arts Faculty was established on 24th July 1989 with 94 students. The Science Faculty was started in 1994 with 27 students and Commerce Faculty came into existence from 1999. To be in tune with the changing times,B.Sc.(IT) course was introduced from 2001. The Post Graduate Centre for M.A.Programmes was established in 2004. followed by M.Sc. Programmes in 2006 and Ph.D.Programme(Zoology) in 2008. The B.M.S course commenced from 2009, M.Sc (IT) course, from 2010 and M.Com. course from 2011. B.S.c (Biotechnology) and Post-Graduate Programmes viz. M.A.(History), M.A.(Philosophy) and M.Sc (by research) in Zoology were introduced in 2012. M.Sc. Programmes in Physics and Mathematics Commenced in 2013. B.Sc (Inter Disciplinary Studies) a unique value added course was introduced from 2016.

Apart from conventional courses leading to graduation, the college also enrolls students for BMS, B.Sc. (Biotechnology), B.Sc. (Inter-disciplinary Studies), B.Sc. (IT) and M.Sc. (IT) and Ph.D. programmes of the University of Mumbai.
In a relatively short span of 29 years since inception, the college has achieved landmark honours and recognitions:

  • Selected in the year 2016 for funding under the prestigious Star College Scheme of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India
  • Supported under RUSA 2.0, FIST ‘O’ Level Grant from DST, Govt. of India
  • Best Actress Award in Short Film Competition conducted by Thane Police on raising Awareness against Terrorism in 2017-18
  • Best Principal Award through Indo Global Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture 2018

During the academic year 2016-2017, two of our teams were selected to represent the University of Mumbai in the Avishkar Inter-University research convention and in the academic year 2017-2018, our staff member was selected as a teacher expert accompanying the University of Mumbai Avishkar Delegation at Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri and then as the team manager of the University of Mumbai’s research team participating in the Anveshan, Western Zone Inter University National Research Convention at Ganpat University, Mehsana, Gujarat. Our staff members were invited as jury members for the Avishkar research convention district level rounds.

Our teachers jointly hold 3 patents and 3 National Service Medals. Our College was successfully registered with the NIRF in the year 2017-2018 due to untiring efforts of the IQAC team. We have started Mentor System, a ‘Cycling Club’ and Positive Thinkers Club’ for all-round development, physical and emotional wellbeing. Our college received a special invitation for the inaugural function of Magnetic Maharashtra Convergence 2018, which was addressed by none other than our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadanavis and a shining gathering of leading global industrialists, on 18th February 2018, which was attended by our delegation of members of the management and staff.
